Understanding your digital product.

Much like physical property, digital assets come with rights, and responsibilities.

Simply put. If you’ve got it, hold it tight. If you want it, approach with respect.

The list of intellectual property’s protection eligibility is forever growing, running parallel with what humans have coming next.

Let’s call this “work” or “works”. This can include a photograph captured, a digital logo created, a melody hummed with an original song in mind, or an idiosyncratic design made with vegan icing on top of a cake. Work(s) refers to materials created by the originator, who then possesses the superior right to, at their sole discretion and peril, publish, distribute, including, but not limited to disseminate the works, in their original condition, or altered to any degree seen fit by the owner of the “copyright”.

As originator, your materials are rendered and declared “completed” or finished when you say so. The very nature of the commitment could arise the need for alterations. As originator, you are simply amending protions, whether small or large, for the sake of the work. If someone wanted to paint a blue circle on your sunset art, or wanted to extend your original music song for 25 seconds, they would be doing that at their own (and maybe prohibited) discretion. Their addition to your painting or song does not now deem that “version” the “original” work created by you.    your material is your property, and property, when copied promotes

Intellectual property is far more serious than you think, and affects all creatives alike.

We at Burman Media Inc create. We understand the technical side, the visual side, of both things, and try to pair that with our client’s best wishes. On this website, you’ll see many works of media which are protected under (international) copyright law. What that means is simply posting my work, or work created in association with Burman Media Inc on this website or it’s accompanying websites does not mean it is up for grabs. This means whatever you see on this website was created as a part and in pursuit of our passion, and your commission.

Laws have to be strict for this kind of property solely because how easily it can be taken (over).

This is work created for a specific purpose, or a specific person, and taking it without asking would simply be theft. This is intellectual property, feasted on using our senses, and is considered consumed once experienced in its respective platform and accompanying or corresponding medium. To discard that right from it, and portray it without its intended context would be identical to misrepresentation. That doesn’t seem fair to us.

You’re here for good reasons.

This page of the website is tucked away, so if you’re here looking to get a question answered, you’re well on your way. Use the FAQ above to have general questions answered. If the question is content-specific, or if you’re an existing client, and are inquiring about existing work, use the form below,  reference an invoice number alongside your question, and we’ll be in touch.

Usage depends, and simply asking us below, or over at studio@burmanmedia.com with your questions/concern regarding copyright would make all matters pleasant.
